North Preston Strong (Gospel Remix) lyrics
Intro
Yeah, yeah
From North Preston to Halifax town
Dartmouth side, we hold it down
East Coast love, roots run deep
We come this far from Faith
Chorus
North Preston strong, we light up the night
Halifax breeze, got the harbour in sight
From the community centre to the waterfront lights
We rise with pride, yeah, we do it right
North Preston strong, everybody knows
Where the love runs deep and the good vibes flow
From East Preston roads to the Dartmouth sky
Nova Scotia heart, we touching the sky
Verse 1
Wake up early, sun on the trees
North Preston air got a soul you can feel
Family on the block, everybody got love
East Coast spirit, blessing from above
Hit Simmonds Road, where the people come through
Community Centre, that’s the hometown view
Stories in the walls, pride in the sound
When North Preston moves, everybody turns around
Saint Thomas United Baptist Church, where the spirit stays strong
We come this far from faith, been walking so long
Hands lifted high, voices filling the room
From the old-school prayers to the next ones blooming
Pre-Chorus
We don’t just visit, we remember the name
Every road, every face got a part in the flame
From the old-school stories to the new dreams made
North Preston forever, let the whole world say
Chorus
North Preston strong, we light up the night
Halifax breeze, got the harbour in sight
From the community centre to the waterfront lights
We rise with pride, yeah, we do it right
North Preston strong, everybody knows
Where the love runs deep and the good vibes flow
From East Preston roads to the Dartmouth sky
Nova Scotia heart, we touching the sky
Verse 2
Nelson Whynder Elementary, where the young dreams start
Little kings and queens with a fire in their heart
Teachers showing love, helping minds grow bright
Building up tomorrow with that Preston pride
Take a ride down to Cherry Brook way
Black Cultural Centre, where the history stays
African Nova Scotian roots stand tall
400 years strong, still inspiring all
Now we rolling through Dartmouth, across that harbour view
Alderney Landing got the city feeling new
Ferry rides smooth with the skyline bright
Dartmouth lights shining in the East Coast night
Lake Banook waves, where the calm winds blow
Community pride everywhere we go
From Portland Street to the harbour side
Dartmouth got love, got heart, got pride
Now we rolling downtown, let the city come alive
Halifax Waterfront, where the waves ride by
Boardwalk steps with the ocean breeze
Harbour lights dancing like melodies
Africville Museum, gotta stop and reflect
Pay respect to the people, never forget
From the struggle to strength, from pain to pride
That Halifax story still lives inside
Bridge
Oh, North Preston, keep shining bright
Your name got power, your heart got light
From the kids on the court to the elders’ way
You can feel that love every single day
East Preston, North Preston, family ties
Same deep roots, same East Coast pride
Dartmouth, Halifax, all side by side
Nova Scotia love, we carry with pride
From the church house songs to the schoolyard dreams
This community’s stronger than it ever seems
From the ferry lights to the Preston roads
That hometown spirit forever grows
Final Chorus
North Preston strong, we light up the night
Halifax breeze, got the harbour in sight
From the community centre to the waterfront lights
We rise with pride, yeah, we do it right
North Preston strong, everybody knows
Where the love runs deep and the good vibes flow
From East Preston roads to the Dartmouth sky
Nova Scotia heart, we touching the sky
Outro
North Preston, Scotian forever
Dartmouth, Halifax, standing together
Hands up high, let the whole world ride
From the roots to the future, we keep it alive
North Preston strong, forever we rise
East Coast love under Nova Scotia skies
